Grandparents Day is Sunday

Who is oftentimes the next best thing to Mommy or Daddy?  Grandma/Grandpa of course!  We have a joke in our family about who my son would pick to comfort him, say after a fall, and we all agree it depends who is in the room.  We all agree that if my Mom is in the room, she trumps everyone; and he would run straight to Grandma, past Mommy for sure.  I know what a special relationship I had with both sets of my grandparents, so I only hope my son will continue to have a special bond with my Mom and Dad.  In addition to telling Grandma and Grandpa how much you love and care about them everyday, be sure to do a little something extra on Sunday, September 7th.  Grandparents are easy- so even just a homemade card will do.  While you are busy honoring Grandma and Grandpa, why not take the time to go over a little family history with your preschooler?  Make a short and easy family tree as a visual for your kiddo.  You can even attach a picture for non readers to each name.  My son (almost three in November) understands his immediate family very well, but is still working on who his Mommy's mommy is.  He is definitely interested in the subject, as he is always asking me questions about the family.  Mommy, who is Mommy's sissy?  Who is Uncle Sammy's mommy  These questions are simple but show that it won't be long before he gets it.   Happy Grandparent's Day!
