Happy Halloween (and a couple other things to remember...)

October 31, 2008

Happy Halloween! Tonight we will be busy repositioning masks, styling hair, and snapping photos of our cuties in their costumes. But, we have to remember that another important day is coming up next Tuesday. Today is the last day for early voting- if you can make it today (polls close at 8:00 p.m.) check out this link to find a place near you. Perhaps today is pushing it- no worries- just make  Read more...

It's Halloween tomorrow, or are you tired of Halloween yet? Recap, did you miss...

October 30, 2008

The big day is tomorrow. Is your kid the one that sleeps in their costume the night before and you will have to end up peeling it off of her three days later so you can wash it? Or, do you have the kid that will scream bloody murder while you try to get whatever you can on him for a photo op and then relent- letting him merely hold the sword while his pirate costume sits wrinkled on the floor?  Read more...

Best places to trick-or-treat

October 28, 2008

I have talked about some of these places in past posts, but thought they were worth mentioning again. The best trick-or-treating spots have a lot to do with the age and temperament of the child. There are different types of places to go depending on the situation- everything from the preschooler that doesn't want to wear her costume to the 2 nd grader that wants to get as much candy as  Read more...

Have a Green Halloween

October 22, 2008

Ok, we know we need to use CFL light bulbs, bag our groceries in the reusable sacks, and eat as organically as possible. But, now the idea is to have a "green Halloween". Chances are if you are already doing some green living, it won't be hard to make some green Halloween choices. If you aren't, professionals suggest to take it slow- and just try one new green way this year. There is a website  Read more...

Every now and then I want to make sure you know about upcoming events. If you know any that I don't mention, by all means- share! :) Did you know Elmo is coming to visit SA town soon? When Elmo Grows Up will be here November 13-16 at varying  Read more...

Halloween Reading

October 09, 2008

If you read the posts regularly, you know I love a theme! Right now the theme is Halloween and we read books, bake Halloween shaped cookies, or go to pumpkin patches. Whatever we are doing, we have Halloween in mind! If you want to incorporate it into your daily reading, check these books out! 1. Corduroy's Trick or Treat by Don Freeman. Who doesn't love Corduroy? This is perfect for a  Read more...

What's in your dress up bin? How to choose a costume...

October 06, 2008

We are still building our dress up bin because my son is young. So far it has old hats, his old Halloween costume from last year, and a couple snippets of fabric to "layer" with. I was at Wal-Mart getting him a bandana for his costume and picked up a few in different colors for 99 cents to play with. Picking through sale bins or getting the sale after a holiday can add to your dress up bin. It  Read more...

We know fall is here...

September 30, 2008

Well, it is officially fall (and we have to be told this in San Antonio , because otherwise there would be no other visible sign) and there are a few ways we know and let us get into the spirit. Hobby Lobby and Michael's are putting their fall products and dcor on sale and already have Christmas items out and ready for sale! If throwing a pumpkin and scarecrow in your cart  Read more...

What's coming up?

September 26, 2008

Have you taken your child to see Old MacDonald's Farm at the Steven Stoli Playhouse ? If you haven't, tomorrow is the last day it is showing. Make sure to put the next play on your calendar- Little Red Riding Hood and the Cookie Wolf showing Oct. 4- Nov. 1. Tickets are cheaper than going to a movie and probably a better experience. Don't forget about Seussical the Muscial playing  Read more...
