Events Coming Up

May 28, 2009

Many people may want to get out this weekend, the weekend after Memorial Day.  If so, there are happenings around town to check out.  Remember this is the final weekend of the Dinosaur Musical at The Magik Theatre.  If you want to get out without the kiddos this weekend, remember there is always Sitter and a Movie.  It is a licensed day care facility that is located next to Silverado Theatres.  It is intended for parents to drop kids and then see a movie, but they added a "whatever" in there so Moms can get their hair done, or Dads can catch a golf game.  The fees are $20.00 for three hours for the 1st child, the 2nd child is $15.00, and each child after is $10.    Read more...

Best Places to Take Your Little One with Your Older One

March 17, 2009

This is a predicament I often find myself in.  It is slowly getting easier as my daughter is more mobile, but we have had to be creative in activities we can do all together.  Although my kids are only two years and a few months apart, it can seem like they are worlds apart- except for these activities we can do all together.

Things Coming Up in the Alamo City

March 13, 2009

How about a little Texas weather for ya the week of Spring Break?  Naturally this would happen for us our big week off.  We have been in a near drought and now are getting drenched, while freezing and having to pull out our coats one last time!  I know the weather doesn't look that great for the weekend, but you may be itching to get out of the house by then.

Night/weekend clinics and emergency rooms

January 08, 2009

Nobody thinks to plan where they will take their sick child during the middle of the night or on the weekend. Unfortunately, this is the time of year when illnesses run rampant. It is also the time when illnesses can be more serious and require urgent care. If you haven't had to find a doctor on off time- count yourself lucky- but maybe you can use this as a resource if you find yourself in a  Read more...

Gyms with child care services

January 07, 2009

Number one resolution made by people? Gotta be- a healthier or slimmer New Year. If this happens to be your New Year's resolution and don't know what to do with your already active preschooler while you work out, check out these local gyms. I tried to focus on gyms that keep your kids active and not just watching a video or run more like a daycare. 1. Bella Fitness - Located in Stone Oak,  Read more...

Upcoming events in alamo city

January 02, 2009

Time to get back into routine. With the holidays, schedules get out of whack and kids aren't used to that. School will be starting next week which will help with normalacy- and hopefully my son will stop asking if he can ask Santa for one more thing. If you need some events to fill the weekend or after-preschool activities- check out these around town. San Antonio Children's Museum -  Read more...

Sitter and a movie, or whatever

December 15, 2008

I found out about this program through a friend. I clicked on the link to the website and found myself answering 'yes' to every question! One such question, "Do you want to do your Christmas shopping at a leisurely pace?" I thought to myself- have they seen me shop recently! There is nothing leisurely about it. This is a licensed drop-in child care facility that advertises it's cleanliness and  Read more...

Lingo here in san antone

November 04, 2008

The national website of The Savvy Source gives us certain topics to write about on Tuesdays. Our task this Tuesday was to come up with something in our city for each letter of the alphabet. My first thought was that it was going to take forever and be difficult. Not the case. I did really well, I only got stumped (for a very long time) on two letters- if you can think of anything for U and X  Read more...

Ways to cool off, even if it is just with the drink in your hand

August 26, 2008

If my kids and I are out running errands mid-afternoon in the summer, we go from slightly thirsty to parched in no time. It is incredibly hard to stay cool in these hot humid days- especially for kids. My son is usually helpful with reminding me to bring him a sippy cup filled with ice water when we go somewhere. If I forget, I know we are faced with trying to find somewhere to cool  Read more...

Where to walk when there aren't that many choices

July 31, 2008

One would think that a trip to the gas station these days would force anyone to try and find other ways to get places instead of a gas guzzling car. Unfortunately, most of us are still driving everywhere, we are just whining about it more (or at least I am). This is why when I found out about walkscore.com ranking the most walkable cities and San Antonio coming in #32 out of 40 (ouch), I  Read more...
