As the temperature rises, my goal is always to find a fun place to play INDOORS. There are a few places that are new since last summer. I have a short list and I planned on expanding later. If you know of a great play place indoors, let me know. Make sure and call ahead on a few of these places because I have heard they will close for private parties.

Memorial Day is Monday making this weekend a long and relaxing one. There will surely be a BBQ to attend, a family party to coordinate and sales to check out. Still have room for another activity? Check these out. Has anyone tried the new Farmer's Market at the Pearl Brewery? It is this Saturday and provides farm fresh products all from farmers, ranchers or local businesses in the San Antonio area. Nothing better than helping out the local economy. There will be educational cooking demonstrations, shopping, food and entertainment. Every Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (rain or shine) along the banks of the San Antonio River west of Full Goods. This Saturday, Melissa Guerra will be giving cooking demonstrations using seasonal foods.

Can you believe it is Spring? With all of our nice rain showers, wildflowers like bluebonnets should be popping up everywhere. The hot humid weather is holding off for another month, so it is the perfect time to get out on the weekends with the family. Roxaboxen is playing at The Magik Theatre now until April 18. This play is based on the book Roxaboxen by Alice McLerran about children using their imaginations to imagine towns and houses made out of all different fun things.

Spring is upon us! With highs in the 80s we have no choice but to get out and enjoy the weather. Do you find yourself always going to the same spot to ride bikes and play on the playground? Why not change it up and try out a new spot? I listed 5 of our favorite places to take the tricycle, where they have great (mostly paved) trails and sometimes even a playground to cool off at. Did I miss a favorite of yours? If so, please share. We are always looking for a change of scenery!

I am one of those that takes 'growing up' particularly harder than the average parent. I can get myself almost upset at the though of my children getting older and eventually leaving. They are only three and 9 months. Will I be in an insane asylum their first day of college? I don't know- I find solace in the fact that everyone gets older (not just my kids) and that the joy of children doesn't Read more...
Games to play and places to go with friends
September 09, 2008
There are some games that are meant to be played alone. There are games that require more than one person, but don't require much communication between the players. Then, there are games that necessitate contact between the players, sometimes working in teams. These are the games that we need to sometimes get preschoolers to actually interact. I am going to highlight some games Read more...
How preschool teachers resolve conflict
September 08, 2008
Although I admit I only taught the older kids who usually knew how to share, (didn't always do it though!) I definitely have broke apart many a playgroup brawl with my preschooler. With a sprinkle of my Mom's parenting techniques, a dash of every parenting book I have read, a pinch of a Supernanny episode, and a drop of all assorted unsolicited advice from strangers, I have come up with my Read more...

After many happy years there, we recently bid Alamo Heights farewell . I was sad to leave the old hood but excited to embark on new adventures in the 'burbs. So far, so good. Here are a few of the places we like to visit north of town and outside "The Loop. La Taza , 15060 San Pedro Ave/281 North, 78232 This is my new, favorite, kid-friendly, locally-owned coffee house. The Quadrangle on Ft. Sam Houston Imagine a place, a magical place, where kids roam among friendly deer and peacocks, rabbits and ducks. A place where a mythical-looking clock tower stands tall above tiny children and dwarfs even adults. A place so spacious that your child could run, back and forth across it, for hours at a time, while you sit leisurely on a blanket, able to see them from any Read more...

In San Antonio, as quickly as the rain appears it's gone. Here are some inspired places to take your child right after the last drop hits the pavement: 1. Sunset Ridge Shopping Center, 6438 N.
